ABOUT ME
Hi there!
My name is Tina, and I am the founder of The Literacy Shed Taupō. I am a Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist and an Accredited Member of the Australian Dyslexia Association (AMADA).
The Literacy Shed Taupō specialises in one-to-one and small group tutoring following a Structured Literacy Approach tailored for children who have difficulties acquiring literacy skills.
Structured Literacy is an approach to reading instruction that is beneficial for general education students at risk for reading difficulties due to various factors and students with disabilities.
The Structured Literacy approach explicitly teaches systematic word-identification/decoding strategies. These benefit most students and are absolutely vital for those students with dyslexia.
We engage learners in an active understanding of what they are learning, why they are learning it, and how to apply their learning in a thoughtful way. Our goal is to encourage thinking and reasoning rather than reliance on rote memorisation.
Regardless of your child's age, The Literacy Shed Taupō can help them with essential word recognition and more advanced language comprehension skills. And it doesn't matter if you're home-schooling or need extra 'gentle' support to get your child on track with what they might not be getting at school.
Empowering parents to support their children's education is my passion, and I love helping children enjoy reading and writing and become literate members of our society.
I am always here to support you and your child, so please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
