The Literacy Shed is proud to be a member of The Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI), an affiliate of the International Dyslexia Association, which issues certifications to those who possess the knowledge and skill necessary to implement Structured Literacy practices.
We are also an accredited member of the Australian Dyslexia Association, an accreditation reserved for professional members who can evidence that they have successfully completed extensive training in Multisensory Structured Language Education.

All Structured Literacy intervention lessons are highly personalised and customised to meet the learner’s profile, culture, identity, as well as interests.
Individualised instruction ensures the learner experiences regular success; thus, self-esteem develops directly from the learner’s achievement, and learning becomes a positive experience.
Instruction is presented systematically with concepts clearly stated, modelled, and practised. Moving from supported to independent practice enhances learning, leading to automaticity and independent application.
Explicit instruction makes no assumptions about students’ prior knowledge and ensures that the student knows what is to be learned, why it is to be learned, and how it is to be learned.
Structured Literacy instruction makes use of auditory (hearing), visual (seeing) and kinesthetic (movement) pathways during each lesson.
Multisensory activities encourage learning by engaging the student's focus and providing tactile reinforcement for enhanced learning.
